Parging
Parging is a protective layer that guards your foundation against weather elements like snow, rain and frost. After time, cracks can appear and pieces of parging can fall off. Not only does this cause an unsightly finish, it also leaves your foundation open to weather elements. This can cause cracks in the foundation, which can lead to basement leaks and insects entering your home.
In large areas, sheets of galvanized mesh are nailed to the wall then a “scratch coat” of strong cement is applied prior to the last coat, which is smoothed with a sponge-like tool to make it flat and even. Small areas of parging do not require mesh.
- Improve the appearance of your exterior walls,
- Provide protection against rain and snow damage,
- Conceal and protect deteriorated brickwork, avoiding replacement.
